Kgaogelo Moagi the Local Limpopo Beatmaker to Global Star – Jerusalema, Master KG
Jerusalema produced in December 2019 featuring one of Africa’s finest Nomcebo Zikode went on to become a global anthem mild 2020.
Could this be attributed to the World at its peak of Coronavirus pandemic? If this is solely true, I guess music lovers will see Jerusalema by Master KG as a takeout from boredom because it’s a song you can eat and dance to out the same time.
Master KG began his musical career at a very tender age as a beatmaker growing up in Calais Village, Limpopo. He was professionally known in 2016 after recording his first single “Situation” with a later debut album in 2018 dubbed “Skeleton Move”.
2020 turns out to be Master KG’s brightest year in the entertainment industry after nominated for the prestigious MTV Europe Music Award (EMA).
Master KG’S accolades continue to soar following his recent nomination confirming his hit single Jerusalem as a global record.
The Limpopo star’s hit single placed the world on a buzzing mode in several months in 2020 with countless dance challenges after its first dropout in 2019.
People from all workers of life took their turn including Police officers, Priests, front line health workers, Patients, and notwithstanding, Animals also. All mentioned could be vividly be traced back with the dancing challenge hashtag #JerusalemaChallenge.
Meanwhile, sportsmen, women, and celebrities all over the universe were not left out as the viral dance challenge fuels social media.
Notable was Portuguese forward Cristiano Ronaldo who use the song for a lovely family video, while Jenet Jackson and fellow American rapper Chance the Rapper also took a turn.
Politics and entertainment continue pair as a viable social and economical tool to librate the populace. President Cyril Ramaphosa made his admiration known for the song as he gave recognition o Master KG.
Ramaphosa said there is no better way to embrace the South African culture than joining the global trend that is spreading across boundaries which is the Jerusalema dance challenge. He also said he so much loves the song and describes it as a pride to her cultural heritage.
As the song Jerusalema continues to make waves across various listening and play channels around the globe, Shazam announced in September that it was the most searched song in the word on its app.
While the music video released back in December has racked over 173m streams on YouTube.
Come Tuesday 6th day of October 2020, MTV rolled out nominations for the 2020 EMAs with Master KG bagged a spot alongside fellow South African hits makers DJ Maphorisa and Kebza De Small, for Best African Act. The award will hold on November 8, 2020.
Master KG has found himself nominated for series of awards with little or no surprise considering his entertainment exploits, he has reacted to MTV’s nomination as a life-changing moment for him.
We place our fingers cross as we continue to enjoy Jerusalema and see if Master KG can reproduce more and probably be addressed as a global icon a few years to come.
