Don Jazzy Biography

Michael Collins Ajereh who is famously known as Don Jazzy is a Nigerian record producer, entrepreneur, and philanthropist. He is the co-founder of the defunct record label Mo’Hits Records label in 2004.

Being an entrepreneur, Don Jazzy moved on to established his imprint record label, Mavin Records on May 8, 2012.

The record label has gone on to signed upcoming and fast-rising artists who have become famous along the line, while the most recent of all is Rema.

Early Life

Don Jazzy is an origin of Isoko in Delta State but was born in Umuahia, Abia State. He moved to Ajegunle, Lagos State alongside his parents where he attained primary and secondary education.

He attended co-educational high school and Federal Government College Lagos. Meanwhile, Don Jazzy began to developed interest in music at the age of 12 by playing traditional and percussion instruments.

Upon the completion of secondary education, He gained admission into Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, Edo State where he studied business management.

Following his musical instrument impressive performance, he was invited by his Uncle to London in 2000 to play the drum at a local church. During his stay in London, he got a job as a security guard at McDonald.

Music Career

Don Jazzy’s interest in music grew exceedingly even as he works in London. In 2004, co-founded Mo’ Hits Records alongside D’Banj. While in 2016, he produced the album “No Long Thing and Rundown/Funk You Up.

He became known for the catchphrase “It’s Don Jazzy Again”. In 2008, he produced D’Banj’s and Wande Coal’s albums, The Entertainer and Mushin 2 Mohits respectively.

Both albums received applauds from every part of the world and tremendously increase Don Jazzy’s net worth and fame.

Meanwhile, the producer has also performed background vocals for top artists he produced for including D’Prince, Jay-Z, Sauce Kid, and more.

His dominance as a record producer increased and got employed by American rapper, Kanye West as a producer at Good Beatz. He worked alongside Kanye West and Jay-Z on the production of Lift Off and some other projects.

The partnership with D’Banj came to an end in March 2012 following some artistic misunderstanding.

The label later signed Tiwa Savage who is known as one of the best female musicians in Nigeria. On 5 November 2013, Wande Coal breakout from Mavin following a dispute with Don Jazzy.
